Dragon Age Origins Review

BioWare is no stranger to the world of role playing games. After all, they delivered us Baldur’s Gate, Knights of the Old Republic (my personal favourite RPG), and Neverwinter Nights. Their latest role playing game, Dragon Age: Origins, offers the same flavour of other great games.
One of the important features of a good role playing game is the in depth character creation (seen in all of the aforementioned BioWare games). With Dragon Age: Origins, you get an excessively large amount of leeway and options when it comes to this vital section. Each character class has a unique background and traits to allow you to perfectly customise your character, which makes other RPGs seem simple in comparison.
Three races are the options here: human, dwarf, and elf. There are also three basic character classes: warrior, mage, or rogue. This may not seem very large, but it’s in the skills and abilities that make Dragon Age a unique role playing experience. Skills are learned as you go through the game which are also class and race specific, which will help your character seem unique.
Which race and character class you select will determine which one of six storylines you will follow, so choose wisely; you don’t want to rush this decision (but make sure you back it up on the ample amount of storage space, in case you change your mind later).
BioWare also knows that lengthy game play is paramount for a great RPG, and Dragon Age does not disappoint, with dozens of hours of playing time. The story is no slouch either, with the plot developing smoothly throughout the game. Because the game is so large, you are given an in game codex that keeps track of all your previous conversations and important plot points.
One of the best factors of this game is the fact that, like KOTOR, the story line will change depending on your decisions. This allows for replayability in the game; you can play through the entire game and then start over under a different race and class for another unique experience. This game is great value for the money.
