The Top 5 Final Fantasy Games Ever Made

This list is one that could cause a fair amount of uproar in the geek world of gaming, especially to those who have an entire storage space full of systems and games. I know how passionately some people support their favourite Final Fantasy games, but this is my list and I think, in all honesty, that most of you would agree with it. If not…let the flaming begin!
5. In at number five is Final Fantasy IX. It was hard to pick a fifth placed Final Fantasy game, but in the end, I did have fun with this one. However, much like Final Fantasy VII, it was just too cartoon-like to fight for a higher spot.
4. Fourth place in the list is Final Fantasy XIII. Whilst the game takes a fair few hours to really get in to, once you do you become immersed in a world that is more jaw-droppingly gorgeous than I have ever seen before. The character designs were also great.
3. I really enjoyed Final Fantasy XII. Both its setting, its story and its cast were brilliant. From the young and impetuous Vaan to the sarcastic, cunning and charming Balthier, Final Fantasy 12 tried a couple of new things out and was the first game that didn’t include random encounters. It definitely deserves its place in this list.
2. Coming in second place is Final Fantasy VII. There has been a debate for the last 11 years concerning Final Fantasy VII and VIII about which of the two is the best. Obviously, they are both fantastic games and both should find themselves in any “must play”list because of their size, story and game play. Seven was just a little too cartoon-like to come top of my list.
1. Final Fantasy VIII is my favourite game of the entire series. I loved the more realistic characters and the world it was set in. I loved the emotion in the storyline and it was the first game ever that made me feel involved in the plot. I would race home after school to play this little gem and, with over 100 hours of game play, I certainly got my money’s worth.
